Chief Justice of Botswana

Chief Justice Rannowane has 31 years’ experience as a judicial officer, having started his career in 1990 as a Magistrate Grade II. He went through the ranks until he became a Regional Magistrate in 2005. In 2008, he was appointed Judge of the High Court.

He is a holder of an LLB degree from the University of Botswana and a Master of Laws degree from the University of Warwick.

 In 2018, after 28 years of judicial service, he was appointed Chief Justice of Botswana.  He was appointed Chairman of the Botswana National Parole Board in 2004, a position he held until he was appointed Chief Justice of Botswana.

In 2012, he was appointed to chair a National Delimitation Commission which drew up the existing parliamentary constituencies in Botswana.

Chief Justice Rannowane is a former chair of Botswana Magistrates Welfare Committee which worked on the improvement of conditions of service for magistrates.
